Description
Firetop Mountain is a volatile piece for young orchestras! It’s filled with driving, primal rhythms lots of unexpected harmonic twists. Moments of tentative peace and safety are offset by moments of searing tension that lead to fiery, explosive results. The piece sits on the easier side of grade 3, with limited required shifting in the violin 1, cello, and bass parts. The rhythms found in the piece are fairly straightforward, though throughout the piece students will be challenged with a shifting tonal center and numerous accidentals. The melodic phrases are shared with all parts of the orchestra at one time or another.
